June 23, 2011 – Featured Installation: Awesome compass inlay by TT Custom Marine

Holly Springs, NC: Yet another top-notch install job by TT Custom Marine! This Silverton 45C features an awesome custom compass rose inlay. TT Custom Marine used black PlasDECK Ebony and light strips of CoolTEAK material to create the contrasting dark and light colors for the compass rose. They surrounded the compass with blank teak-colored material to really make the design stand out. With PlasDECK’s spectrum of color choices, the possibilities for custom inlay are endless.

The rest of this deck features classic PlasDECK with teak planks and black caulk lines. The outer edges of the deck are bordered like a traditional teak deck, but the hatches are unbordered so they blend in with the rest of decking. Unbordered hatches can make deck space look larger, and on this Silverton the unbordered hatches help draw attention to the compass inlay. The end result is sleek and elegant.

” This one took some time to get it just right but the results are pretty stunning, at least according to the owners who are VERY happy,” says Travis Tea of TT Custom Marine. Nice work, Travis!

Michigan Teak made templates of these deck spaces and then welded panels of CoolTEAK that were sized to fit and ready to be glued down. These panels are New York style (with no borders around the edges). This style can accentuate smaller spaces, making them look longer and bigger. Thanks for the photos, Michigan Teak! This Seadoo looks awesome!

February 3, 2011 – Featured Installation: Creative CoolTEAK inlay installed by Rosemark Yachts

Fort Myers, Florida: Rosemark Yachts has recently completed the installation of these custom PlasDECK panels for a customer’s boat. These panels are built using PlasDECK material with off-white lines, and the panels are fully bordered like a traditional teak deck. Rosemark sent the templates for this deck to PlasDECK Inc. and the panels were built to size in PlasDECK’s shop.

Blank CoolTEAK material (without caulk lines) was used to add a tuna fish inlay. The maple look of the CoolTEAK really stands out next to the teak look of the PlasDECK planks. With PlasDECK’s new color spectrum, the creative possibilities are endless! Images, logos, or a boat name can be added to any boat deck. Contact us for more information.

Louisville, KY, USA: PlasDECK is announced as a 2010 winner of the Innovation Awards at the International Boatbuilder’s Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) for their new phosphorescent Azure series of decking. The Innovation Awards, organized by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and judged by Boating Writers International (BWI), recognize those products that best meet the following criteria: innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality; cost-effectiveness; and availability to the consumer within 60 days of award receipt.

“The winners recognized at IBEX today are a testament to the ongoing commitment to boating advancements and ingenuity necessary to the future of boating,” noted NMMA President Thom Dammrich. “It’s encouraging to see companies focus their efforts on creative solutions to help their customers and further the industry, and I’m excited to see how these products adapt in the market.” This groundbreaking synthetic teak decking blends phosphorescent technology in the caulk line. After being charged by normal daylight it glows a soft azure blue at night. “For an entire deck or just steps from the bridge, this helps you see the boundaries of safe passage,” noted Frank Lanier, marine surveyor and contributor to Practical Sailor and Southern Boating, and one of the judges for the Innovation Awards PlasDECK’s Azure series is the winner in the category of Safety Equipment.

September 27, 2010 – PlasDECK launches two innovative new product lines.

PlasDECK’s AZURE glows in the dark, and CoolTEAK stays cool in the sun!

Akron, OH, USA: PlasDECK announces the launch of two new styles of synthetic teak boat decking. For several years, PlasDECK has provided the look of a classic teak deck, without the costly and time-consuming maintenance. Now, PlasDECK offers the new Azure series with glowing caulk lines to define deck spaces after sundown, and CoolTEAK which is cooler to the touch in the hot sun.

The new PlasDECK Azure series provides the ability to see the deck after dark. New cutting-edge phosphorescent technology is incorporated into the caulk lines in the material. After it is charged by normal daylight, the lines glow a soft azure blue from dusk to dawn. This brings a new level of comfort, security, and safety after dark. This environmentally-friendly natural light doesn’t depend on batteries or wires. Wherever the decking is installed – be it platform, step, or cockpit – the boundaries of safe passage are clearly marked. This product is patent pending.

By popular demand, PlasDECK has also created the only synthetic decking that’s designed to stay 25°F to 30°F cooler than all other PVC decking material. CoolTEAK will not feel hot on bare feet, even in full sun. CoolTEAK has the elegant appearance of traditional maple planking with teak colored caulk lines.

Both Azure and CoolTEAK are made of PlasDECK’s patented flexible PVC, which contains only the best ingredients. PlasDECK always uses the highest UV protection to protect against fading, antifungal inhibitors which ensure that mold and mildew will wash right off without staining the deck, and non-migrating plasticizers which stop the movement and evaporation of oils in the plastic. That means that the PlasDECK won’t dry out, crack, or crumble over time and the PlasDECK will retain its superior adhesion. This proprietary process is unique to PlasDECK decking material and can’t be found in other synthetic decking products on the market. PlasDECK is also the only synthetic teak decking that’s made in the USA, and the only product with the option of Peel & Stick pressure sensitive adhesion.
